Life-Threatening Illnesses in the Workplace

Employees with life-threatening illnesses, such as cancer, heart disease, and AIDS, often wish to continue their normal lives, including work, to the degree that they can. Jones Fuel Co. wants to help these employees to work as long as they continue meeting acceptable performance standards.

Medical information on any employee is confidential. Jones Fuel Co. will take reasonable precautions to protect medical information from inappropriate disclosure. Managers and other employees have a responsibility to respect and maintain the confidentiality of employee medical information. Anyone inappropriately disclosing medical information is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
